Halloween in Westchester brings a lot of fun with its ghoulish cemeteries and blazing pumpkin festivals. It doesn’t matter if you are the costume type or not. There are lots of things to do to make this day spooktacular for the faint at heart and ghouls.

From Sleepy Hollow to Rye, there are tons of spots to enjoy Halloween in Westchester and get your fear cups filled.  You just need to pick the right spot. This guide will help you make your way to the best spots Westchester has to offer. Outlined below are grim places to enjoy Halloween in Westchester.

The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze

This is a great place for the whole family with no age restrictions. It is the biggest ticketed Halloween event in the region and probably the whole nation. The sight of the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze is jaw-dropping and spine-chilling.

The Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson is illuminated by over 7000 sculptures and not just your regular Jack O’Lantern. There is a 100-foot long sea serpent made of only Jack O’Lanterns. It also offers a functioning pumpkin carousel, King Kong, Statue of Liberty and lots of other creative pumpkin art.

These magnificent structures are propped with spooky sound effects and mood lighting to create a fantastic Halloween experience. That’s not all. There’s always a new work of art each year. This year brings in a working windmill, the signs of the zodiac, and a medieval castle guarded by jack-o'-lantern owls.

When: weekends and select weekdays from Friday, September 28 – Sunday, November 24, 2018

The Haunt at Rocky Ledge

This is a great scary outdoor attraction in Westchester. In fact, it has the cornfield occupied by zombies and grotesque creatures. If you think you are brave enough to take this horrifying adventure into The Haunt, you should know a few things. It is set on eight acres of hell with two haunted houses, a bloodcurdling trail and of course, a cornfield. Its gates are opened every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Horseman’s Hollow

This is the top destination for a spine-chilling night in the mystic county of Sleepy Hollow. The Horseman Hollow is a great indoor and outdoor attraction that brings tales into reality. The historic Philipsburg Manor is in the hands of the undead with the Headless Horseman himself as the supreme ruler.

They will make your hairs tingle and are ready to terrify you with their underworldly weapons of destruction from the 1700s. The whole set is of Hollywood quality and is not for the faint at heart. Get your tickets well in advance to avoid delay. The Headless Horseman welcomes you on Select evenings Friday, October 5 – Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Jay Ghoul’s House of Curiosities

This is not the scariest place to be in Westchester and is a great family tour spot. It was formerly the home of railroad tycoon Jay Gould. The House is Gothic revival mansion in Lyndhurst with a lot of spooky aurae. It is a nice spot if you like mysteries.

Take an interactive night tour in the creepy mansion with its dark lighting and chilling interior and solve a mystery. This year’s mystery is themed “Murder or the Pharaoh’s Curse?”  It’s 1922 and you are to determine the cause of death of some archeologists after they unearthed an ancient Egyptian tomb. Admission is by a timed entry.

When: October 19-21, 25-28 and Halloween’s day.

Forest O’Fears Haunted Hayride

This isn’t your regular hayride through a peaceful corn farm. This is a very creepy hayride. Enter through the Garage of Terror and board the chariot that will take you into the dark forest. It’s not just dark, it crawls with grotesque witches, zombies, serial killers and monsters.

When: October 26 and 27 6-10 pm
