This winter, don’t let the cold keep you and your loved ones hurdled up inside the house. Our Car Service in Westchester, having operated in the County for quite a number of years, has come to discover that there is plenty to do in Westchester during winter. We have therefore come up with a list of some fun activities that you could partake in this winter holiday.
Head over to the Wolf Conservation Center and observe these majestic creatures during their favorite time of year. You will get to learn about their biology, ecology, and mythology during winter. At the conservation center you will get to see Mexican grey wolves as well as the endangered red wolves. The center will serve you and your companions hot beverages to keep you warm throughout the course of your visit. Log onto the Wolf Conservation website to get a full schedule of their visiting hours and plan your visit.
The Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is offering a guided tour on their grounds this winter. These tours are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays throughout the course of the winter season. This is a family-friendly location that will allow you to enjoy seasonal farm highlights and get an up-close look at the animals and vegetable gardens only at $10 per person.
The Westchester Winter Wonderland will be hosted at the Kensico Dam Plaza. This annual event is slowly becoming a Westchester tradition with various features to spice up your holiday. At the Winter Wonderland you will get to enjoy ice skating, a circus show with numerous entertaining acts, food and refreshment vendors, candy cane forest lights, the Santa Experience, rides, musical light shows, and much more. This year the Winter Wonderland has also introduced a new feature; free curling demonstrations hosted by the Ardsley Curling Club. You will also get to do your holiday shopping at the new pop-up market where you will find unique gifts and souvenirs for your loved ones.
What good is a winter holiday if you can’t have fun on the ice? There are several ice rinks around Westchester that offer public skate sessions. Head over to the Palisades Center Ice Rink located in Palisades Center Drive or try the Westchester Skating Academy at Fairview Park Drive. Other ice rinks include the Playland Ice Casino at Playland Parkway and Brewster Ice Arena at Fields Lane. Skating rates and schedules will vary from rink to rink, so check their websites or call ahead before you settle on one.
This is the perfect time of year to head over to the Hudson Valley Nature Museum's Owl Prowls. Here you will learn about these mysterious creatures that are native to Hudson Valley before an up-close meeting with one of the resident owls. Afterwards, you and your companions will experience a guided tour in the wild with a certified naturalist as you look for owls in their natural habitat. A standard fee of $12 per person must be paid in advance at the museum’s website.
